It is believed that multiple homeless people 'lounged' outside various banks and stock brokers located in central London begging for money just before the 2008 global financial crisis.

Despite the beggars regularly being clothed, wrapped in warm sleeping bags, and stocked with an array of goods, passers by, which mostly included executives, financial managers and loan officers, were apparently 'overcome with sadness' and felt compelled to donate money to the rough sleepers, though the latter would only do so with an interest of 3.7% APR.

Some of the donations reached high levels with some giving as much as £20 million. It is estimated that donations reached a total of around £2.4 trillion, with most of the donations being done so in company names.

Despite many of the beggars deciding to invest wisely in premium bonds and numerous infrastructure projects, most spent the vast sums of their fortune on drinking, taking drugs, and gambling.

'This was appalling behaviour' one banking executive said. "If you're going to do drink, drugs, and gamble all day then get a job on Wall Street."

Most of these homeless people lost their new found fortune soon after and therefore remain on the streets today. However, many still beg for money despite remaining considerably wealthy and in some cases owning numerous properties.

"If you see a beggar, don't give money to them" one man said, "I know one beggar that pays for his second house through begging for change. It's a lucrative business."

In a recent statement, the charity 'Shelter' which represents homeless people from across the country, has said "this has given us a lot to think about."

It's unlikely any of the beggars will face criminal charges for their involvement in the crisis.

"Bankers have been stigmatised so much for the cause of the crisis' one CEO said. 'I'm just relieved we can put this all behind us."
